Overview
Who is Cossel Books? We have been selling books online since the late 1990's, and are based out of
Boise, Idaho. And to be honest, the "we" is actually just "me" - Travis Cossel, sole proprietor. But I figure
that since I do all of the purchasing, selling, packing, shipping, web-site development, miscellaneous &
sundry clerical activities, and everything else, well... the first-person plural "we" seems appropriate!
The Cossel Books website is designed in such a way as to try and provide an easy shopping experience;
hopefully you've found that this is the case. Although Cossel Books does not exist as a "bricks and mortar"
store anywhere and only has an on-line storefront, that doesn't mean we are not a "real" bookstore.
Our inventory contains thousands of fine second-hand books that are stored in a warehousing facility, and
additional books are aquired all the time. The books are graded and catalogued, often including a
digital scan of the cover, before being listed online in the store's inventory.
But because we are on online store, there are many, many resources available to use which can be used to make
your shopping experience even better. First and foremost, as an Amazon.com Web Services (AWS) Developer,
we have utilized the AWS API to extend the "range" of your searching and browsing from our site. This enables
us to automatically help you find the books you are looking for even if we don't currently have a copy in our
stock. Additionally, Cossel Books is a member of the Biblio.com
community of booksellers. So in addition to providing access to all of Amazon.com's inventory, we can also help you to search through the inventory of
Biblio.com's thousands of booksellers in order to help you find exactly what you are looking for.
Finding Books
There are a couple of ways to find books on our site. The first is by simply browsing. Our browse page allows
browsing of all of our titles from broad general groups all the way down to specific sub-topics. These are items
that have been catalogued and indexed into our inventory. The books displayed via the browse-pages are shown in the
order of newest arrivals first, continuing on into the older items in our stock.
The other way to find books on our site is by searching through our search-form. When processing your search,
we first look through our on-hand inventory of books. In the event that we do not have a copy of the book you
are searching for, we may also do a quick search of Amazon.com's inventory and display these books for your
review.
Here are a few tips to help you with your searching:
- At least one field in the search form must be filled.
- For a broader search, set fewer fields; for a more focused search, set more fields.
- If you are unsure of a name/title or its spelling, use the "*" character as a wildcard. For example, the entry of "mo*" in the author field would cause a match on moby, moore, morrision, etc.
- By default, the words the, a, and are not included in the search. If you would like to include them, you must put them within "quotes", i.e. "of mice and men". Note, however, that by quoting you will greatly focus your search.
